Today, my cup is full. I feel full of joy, contentment, and gratitude. The most fulfilling moments for me as a yoga teacher, are those when a student makes progress in an asana, i.e, a posture and I can see the joy and satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment on their face. I am right there with them. We are all constantly growing and learning and that is what I love about the practice.
Yes, it is an amazing experience when you can finally push up into Urdva Danurasana (Full Wheel) like my lovely student, Carol Roth below, who beat herself up for months not being able to get the pose, then moving on to using blocks as a support, to now fully pushing up into the pose, yay!
…we should still feel encouraged and motivated when we discover that there are certain things are bodies aren’t ready for when it comes to the poses. We need to look at them and say, “WOW, THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO WORK WITH. THIS IS MY CHALLENGE.I
I will say it again. THIS… is what I love about the practice.
As Shri K Pattabi Jois put it so perfectly, “Practice and all is coming.” The poses will happen, the transformation will happen.
But you can apply this to more than just the poses. With practice, life is coming…heartache is coming, loss is coming, struggle is coming, joy is coming. All is coming. Yoga will make what is coming in life, perhaps more simpler, but undoubtedly more clearer.
See you on the mat!
